![]() so - rotary encoder time.
get your rotary encoder and bend and trim the center pin so it sits on the top of the board - like this: |

![]() next, take the original switch off, and scrape some laq off the top of the pcb for the center pin like this:

![]() next you need a pair of 1k resistors and a pair of 10k resistors and some thin wire.
just to be clear, the place the 10k resistors join the wire is NOT connected to the pcb! Last edited by stj; 12-01-2015 at 07:38 PM.. |

![]() next you need to link the 2 cpu pins to the resistors.
WARNING - this is pro-soldering! |

![]() back to the top of the pcb,
solder the center tab of the encoder to the ground-point you remembered to scrape-clean on the pcb. |

![]() depends.
if your tester is pretty new and id's as 1.12k then nothing really, just a lot easier to use the menu function. if your tester is old and running 1.11k or older then probably lots of new stuff. |

![]() There is one thing ESR meters should have, which is Kelvin sensing (4-wire measurement capability), which keeps measurement errors to a minimum.
