no, arduino is pre-programmed and the code is loaded by com-port.

you need a usbasp programmer

Ok, thanks...how about this one with a 10 to 6 pin adapter? Just looking to save a little DIY time, if possible...

Hi I would like to try your latest firmware compiled for the T3/T4 tester version which I have and I added the rotary encoder.

Thanks

ok, try this.

i need you to go into the menu and check the encoder works o.k. and in the right direction.
then go into the contrast menu and find the best contrast value.

finally, use a meter to check the battery voltage while it's on the lcd to see how close they are.

For some reason I was thinking there was only 32Kb of room for the program, am I way off
base?

well, because, the size of the update files you've been putting up here started out at a bit below 32k in size, but kept getting progressively bigger, so it seems that either you've found a way to compress the files when loading them or I totally misunderstand what the update files are about.

hex files.
they are just over twice the size of the binary data because they contain address and checksum info.

also, each zip contains 2 versions and i now included the source files i modded.

i'm not sure why 3 people downloaded the T4 code without posting answers to my questions afterwards - that code is not tuned or complete!

say stj, I'm wanting to change from the atmega168 that's in my d-i-y esr meter kit to an atmega328 - from what reading I've done, it sounds like it should be doable once I have some kind of programming setup, what do you think? I was thinking of getting the 328 IC from digikey...

the 328p is a direct swap.
they are probably cheaper on ebay though.

Well, I tried ebay, wasted 2hrs. trying to find a seller who'd ship to a po box - then, went through the 'checkout as a guest' all the way past entering my debit card # and they wanted a different debit or cc #. It's worked fine on 2 other occasions, and I know how much my balance is, so wonder wtf...

then you need a 16MHz crystal and a pair of 22pF caps that can fit between the crystal pins and that center hole.

Ok, thanks, I think I saw a suitable crystal at digikey for less than a dollar the other day.

Now it's time to do a youtube crash course on avr programming now, I've watched a few from newbiehack.com and think Patrick Hood-Daniels does a pretty good job of explaining things.

BTW, sometimes I behave like such a clown, yesterday when I was shopping on ebay I forgot to enable cookies - I still can't buy from ebay today, but that may now be because I made so many tries wo/ cookies yesterday, what do you think?
