    Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor

Mine is a Fluke 23 Series II see attached.

So as the other components are reading open circuit, is there anything I can do to check that they are working? Without over risking more failures of course.

Many people already explain what those component are and what the reading should be when you measure the resistance, may be you just do not understand how those component function.
          See post 11 and 12.
Do the research on MOV and SPARK GAP, you are lucky to have internet.

Ok, I can see where you are coming from on this. I'm no expert for sure, but I was hoping that there might be some simple test to check the functionality of the other components. Would Fluke test these protection devices before shipping I wonder?

They look good visually so I'll just leave well enough alone. Thanks for all yer help.

              Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor

Just a follow up- the 1k 2W Ohmite OY102KE resistor is huge... almost an inch.
I think it's the smaller 1W OX102KE what is used in the Fluke multimeters? Brymen 867 also uses the 1W part, based on pics.

The fusible resistor in the service manual is 2W.
