Hi all, I just want to share the fix on a LG 60PV400-UB plasma TV. It has sound, but no picture.
The power supply was ok, supplying VS and VA to the Y sustain board.
The Y sustain board (EBR73561201 or EAX64232001) had no VSB and VY voltage. Still no VSB and VY after disconnecting the Y buffer boards. The only problem I found was an open fuse at position FS104 (2A 125V).
Before reconnecting the Y buffer boards, I checked them for shorted buffer chip. And as expected, I found one at position IC251 on the lower Y buffer board (EBR73561001 or EAX64231901). Chip model is R2A2O296FT. What's funny is that the original chip was made in Malaysia while the only replacement chips I can find are made in Japan. The ones made in Japan are said to be original and those made in Malaysia are said to be fake. What? LG is using fake chips in their TV sets? I don't understand.
Another problem was found on the Z sustain board (EBR73561701 or EAX64232101). It had no VZB voltage (Z bias). I found a ceramic capacitor partially shorted at position C210. It was dark brown due to overheating. It is connected to IC216. To find its value, I looked at C282 which is connected to IC215 in a similar way. Value of C282 measured 4.7uF. So I replaced C210 with a 4.7uF ceramic capacitor salvaged from another board. VZB is back.
This TV has been beaten up. On the main board (EBT61405091) the connectors for HDMI3 at position JK503 and the optical out at position JK604 were both ripped off from the board. I'll let them as is, since I don't need them and finding replacement parts is almost impossible.
Thanks to LG for providing the details to do the alignment for their plasma TV sets. I've adjusted the VS, VA, VSB, VY, VZB, Set-DN and Set-UP voltages for a perfect picture.
The fixes described in this post will also apply to the following TV models from LG :
60PV250-UB
60PV400-UB
60PV490-UC
60PV450C-UA
60PV450-UA
60PZ550-UA
60PZ750-UG
60PZ850-UA
60PZ950-UA
And this one from Zenith :
Z60PV220-UA
I hope it can be helpful to someone. If that's the case please reply to this post. Thanks for reading.
