    Re: Vizio M60-C3

it is unlikely to be a right side problem (from the front). However, it might still be a problem with bottom edge board and / or side tabs. Its your gamble at this point... but of course, there is no going back. :-(

But there's no fixing the bottom board correct?

I definitely appreciate your thoroughness though before doing the last resort!

Well it didn't work. You were right must be the bottom board. Anything I can try with the clear tape?

there is no way to fix the bottom tabs BUT there are ways to fix failed smd components on the bottom edge boards... hence the careful checks are important. My guess is that you probably have an issue with the side beit a tab or connections that are flowing thru the panel from the bottom edge board at the corner towards the side (that's how the signals / powering gets to the side when there are no side edge boards connected to tabs... just "loop tabs" that provide connection and drive to the side sections).

Just to be clear, you have checked / looked at the side tabs... right? please post a picture of one of the side tabs.

so what are you saying now..... with all cabling in place and with the left side tabs removed, you get no picture? NOTE: even on a good set, removing side tabs (either side) will result in a "good picture".

No I have a picture, just the left half is flashing and ghosting, like before.

to quote a friend... " you have done nothing".... :-) At least one problem is still there. :-(
you still have more than one tcon board for this set (from earlier posts)?

one other thing, you can do yourself a favor for future work... get a standard test pattern (good ones are smpte color bars... these are "fixed" input signals with well defined screens that make it easier to "exercise" the panel / circuit and spot any issues).

Since the history of the set is "limited", anything might have happened... even an attempt at backlight replacement or "window washing" which might have caused issues.
The vertical lines on the one side with the "u" disconnected does not bode well. One other thing about the tcon to panel cabling, people usually only "play" with the tcon end BUT the cable has TWO ends... it is possible that the edge board is also an "unclampable" cable (not always as some set types have soldered ends at one end). You can try looking at / reseating those ends as one more attempt.

What's the easiest way to show the color bars on many different TVs?

for me, its a dvd that has special features for "tuning" your tv (usually "old" thx certified discs.... plus there are many "tv display" test discs available.... another is "wow" by disney). Others use a computer file with the equivalent file. Any / all can be usually input via hdmi which also tests that input (chipset).

Before I tear this one down, there's slim to no chance this is a t-con issue, correct?
