    Looking for good backup software.

    The ideal software would be:

    1. Free
    2. Able to include all Outlook data
    3. Fairly automatic
    4. Able to back up to a network share, or mapped drive.

Any ideas? Feel free to suggest software that's not free if there is no alternative.

This is true, but try getting someone with 0 computer knowledge to go back up files manually. They want to "hit the backup button" and have it do its thing. Or better yet, just do it automatically every day without any intervention at all.

Now I do know there's a Microsoft add-in thing that will backup when you close outlook, but then their files are still needing to be backed up. Like I said, they need one big "Backup Button" to hit.

Tell them tough luck, get educated.
I hate the excuse of "I don't know how."
          Then learn how.
Often they won't because they can pawn it off onto someone else to do.

          Try SyncBack, it's free.
Or simply create a batch file to copy files and possibly have it run automatically using Window's Scheduled Tasks.

We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing.”

+1 syncback use it for a nightly backup of my fiancees computer to a usb hd. She has around 3000+ data files that are basically her thesis (for PhD) so they get backed up everyday to 2 different places and a third weekly its just THAT important.
