    Substitute cap

    Hi all,

I have a blown cap from an x-ray power supply. Here is all the writing on it:

    1000V-/500v~MP
    40/070/56

    RIFA T6
    PME 261 JA

    6800 pF

I can't find the same cap so I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a good substitute for it. How far off 1000v can I go, and how far off 6800 pF? Also, it's a paper film capacitor - if I replaced the same spec with a different type of film capacitor that wasn't paper, would that cause problems?

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

Thanks Pete. I had seen the Mouser one but there was a minimum order of $1200 for that part!! The Digikey looks promising though so thanks for that.
