Toshiba A200 Equium 6050A2109401-MB-A02 dead no power

Hi all, I have dug this laptop out of storage,it refused to switch on.After getting out of storage i tried to power on again with DC adaptor, power light came on and battery charge light to but no system boot, fan etc and after about 1 minute everything went dead, and since not able to get power again.

Took out the motherboard and have 19v on DC connection and i could hear a faint clicking noise. I have 19v upto mosfet Q504 on the schematic. Then 19v on 4 of the pins and 35v on other 4 pins. From there on R523,C522,C528 and C529 where I stopped testing i had 35v. I'm guessing 34v is to high here but not sure how to read schematic to tell me what voltage I should have on these components.

    Any help appreciated thanks.

35V on Drain side of Fet Q504 is too high do you have another adapter to test ?
More than +20V is too high, you have to test the Fet for any short

I was thinking the same with 35v. Only one power adapter, tests ok with voltameter. What could the adapter effect if I am getting the 19v? as it's original Toshiba power supply

Are you familiar with testing SMD components with a multimeter? Can you remove the Fet Q504 and tested out of the MB, Do you have a solder gun? If you’re getting 19V from the adapter that should be fine, there’s a way of by passing the voltage but need info ,Upload a picture of that area

I have power adapter connected only.My multimeter red on ground screw and black touching pins, correct?.
On Q504 mosfet no short to ground, but on Q506 mosfet I think it is,I have 2 pins next to each other showing 0v other 2 pins 36v. Opposite side 0.4v on 4 pins.

          Thanks again.

First check your multimeter's battery. Getting 35V is bit wierd.

Will check my battery in meter but I'm sure it's ok.

Re: Toshiba A200 Equium 6050A2109401-MB-A02 dead no power

Battery attached I have 0v on six of the pins and 0.3v on last three pins together. Battery has not been charged for a few years tho.
Q503, 0v on all pins with battery attached . Ohms on Q503, 4.3 on all four drain side with battery and black lead in source red on drain.

Q504 ohms with battery attached are 2.3 on all four drain pins wires and battery connected as above.
                        Thanks

you have to test with out any power test again ! , do you solder iron to remove Q504 if so remove and put a jumper from pin 123 to 5678 & uplode a pic before power up

Oh I thought you meant leave battery connected while checking ohms too🙄.
Will recheck the ohms on q504,then I might need a day or two to get to use my soldering iron etc,as they are not currently at my house and will report back.

Thanks for the advice, you seem the only one who can help at the minute

If I did the test correct this time I have 2.3k ohms on drain side of mosfet Q504 still on the board atm.
                              Thanks

Some components are getting warm as soon as I plug in DC,without even pressing power button. Components near dc in and the copper heatsink pipe.
                                      Thanks

Hi techtiger or anybody else, any idea where to look now on the board, and do I need to solder mosfet back on the board,or is the mosfet bad.
                                        Thankyou
