Bad news for you and me - that's how I've been discharging both main caps every time I remove the main board. Across the leads one at a time with a screwdriver until I see sparks.
Not bad news for me, it's your tv. in most case the caps will discharge on there own after a couple minutes, Just don't touch that circuit if you are doing tests on other parts of the board. and don't lay the board across the metal of the tv . When you short the caps with a screwdriver, the large current and the large spike created can at a minimum blow the pfc drive ic.

It is best to check the voltage across the main caps and see what the voltage is when it is disconnected. You should use an appropriate resistor to discharge the caps.

I think the maximum voltage for my multimeter is 300V.

What kind of meter do you have? Pictures of it?

TV's should be like the auto industry, You could by a really good car for $5,000, now they are 50,000
A 60" lcd tv should be the same, price should be $20,000 that way they could use better components.

Here is my multimeter. Maybe it can handle it, I am a noob remember. I'm leaning towards powerboard failure, just need to figure out the components that need replacing. If the ICs on the flex cables fail is it always obvious? I inspected them all and they look very clean or new without and melting or burning on them. Also LED strip is 100% clean looking (now I know when they die sometimes they look the same) but I saw a youtube video of a couple burned ones on a strip out of a similar 60" Sharp where one looked black and another brown. Also I know that an LED strip problem has it's own blink code.

Get a new meter so you find out if the PFC Voltage booster is working or not.

Are those the two 450V caps you refer to?

Yes, if PFC Voltage is working then you should have about 380 ~ 400VDC (when TV is turned on) when measure between the Positive leg and the Negative leg of the caps.

If pin 1 on PL connector on the t-con board reads 3.5V does that mean it's bad? Should it always be 12V when the tv powers on?

the story written at post #1 make me remember an issue at CRT from philips , when the one regulator got defect after replace it it work for short time then get defect again... electronic shops start to sell repair kits to all component related to this regulator to replace at once then it done for ever.. yours story very close to this.. dont trust test parts with meter... find the value of them and replace all.

Just carefully measure the voltage of the big caps as mentioned, with tv powered on, don't touch them with anything but the meter leads because it is DEADLY VOLTAGE. If you're not comfortable doing it, you certainly don't have to.

Yeah that's too scary for me, plus my meter only goes to 300V. I don't want to buy another multimeter. Looks like I'm stuck at a dead end for now. The only thing it may very well be is the flex tabs, but removing them from one side would be a foolish 50/50 gamble especially when I see no signs of damage on any of the ICs. Also want to mention again that I was able to watch movies, tv shows with no signs of horizontal lines or banding issues which is a telltale sign of the gate drivers failing according to others. It just suddenly stopped working mid-movie and didn't want to come back on again. 2 -5 code.

I think it is wisest to keep the TV in the back of the room and wait for the same model to come along again with a smashed screen and harvest the boards to play around with.

Your meter might not be ideal for some measurements, you can pick up a digital one at a big box store for around 10 bucks.

I'm going to remove R7305 and test it with my multimeter since it's a component that can be fried in similar models IE: LC-70 series

Since there is a repair kit including the KIA378R12PI I think I'm on the right track now.

Looks like 100 ohm resistor with the writing 2WJ on the side.

It's a diode, Use diode test, it should read open one way and .5xx or .6xx the other way. If it reads shorted then it needs to be replaced with the newer version.
