Surface 3 BIOS dump for BIOS PW

Hey guys, i have a surface 3 with a bios password which i cannot remember.

I tried to dump the current bios with fptw64.exe thats what it says

C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\bios>fptw64.exe -bios -d surface.bin

Error 201: [FPTw64.exe] cannot be run on the current platform.

I dont know how to continue.. am grateful for help!


EDIT: im not sure if its the right .bin in the attackment. If so, thx for decrypting

the posted bios is empty... what programmer do you use???

He used a Software called "fptw64" Flash Programming Tool.

It will be much better to use a Hardware Programmer for that job.

Is there a way to get the dump.bin without opening up the surface? Just with software on windows?

Nonononono, not on this model.


All you need is a proper dump with fptw and then you can decrypt the password. Instead of opening the screen, soldering chip etc.

Hey, thank you for you answer, I tried to dump it with the exe but somehow it does not work.. i posted the error message at the beginning, could u help me with it?

You used the wrong software. You would need to try ME95, ME11 and TXE2 windows versions. I don't know what "surface 3" exactly means in your case so... Just try all of them.

I tried to Backup bios with Universal Bios Backup tool since i couldnt manage to do it with the other ones..

I hope it has the right stuff in it!

Look at your machine. There's model information written there. Some 4 digit code for example?

So TXE2 I think.. Did you try that?

Are you trying it in windows or windows installation media?
If the first, are you running cmd as admin?

I dont know if i am using the correct cmd..

The command is correct. The question was, are you using the correct .exe file? You probably need TXE2 package instead of ME95 package which you used previously.
Thatswhy I've told you to try TXE2, ME95 and ME11 because one of them must work.

And yes, in installation media you can open cmd and do it from there. Atleast that is what I do all the time.
