Asus q501l charges, turns on ac only (spilled tea incident)

Pretty much as the title says. He spilled tea on it. It does turn on ac, turns on the moment its plugged in every time. Shows charging

Motherboard did have sticky places, and one place that concerned me cause it looked like an smd component blew. Fuse?

Anyone know the pinout for the battery so I can try to measure some output voltage?

What's the issue? What's the motherboard model number?

I don't have the model. I'll get it later

It charges the battery, but it won't run on battery. You can turn it on with the power plugged in and 100% charge and the moment you remove the plug it has nothing, won't turn back on without being plugged in

also, not sure if this helps, when you plug it back in, in turns on immediately.

        Sounds like a dead battery.
On the battery connector, outermost pins are usually + and -.

I think the red marked area is just some tea residue. Could also be a blown trace. Try to clean the area and investigate further.
Clean your board to prevent further corrosion.

I agree with piernov about the dead battery theory. Measure the battery voltage directly on the board. If there was a lot of sugar in the tea it might have coated some contacts in sugar goo.

Where did the tea enter into the laptop? This could give you a clue where to start looking for problems.

From the keyboard, on the side where that was found. I cleaned a lot of the board I could with 92% isopropyl. That black spot has what feels like an smd object though it's hard to see.

I dont think there was a smd component on the circled area. Its seems like track is broken. Just scratch the track a bit on both sides and check continuity of the track.

OK. Unplugged from the laptop these show zero. I'm not sure if it should output anything totally disconnected from the laptop.

plugged into the laptop and the laptop plugged in the grounds and red wires show ~16v.

plugged into the laptop and the laptop unplugged from power they show ~0.7v and slowly decreasing to 0.1

I never really tested the middle two

battery is either dead or deeply discharged.

Agreed. Deeply discharged and for that reason dead.

                      Windows says 82% available, charging

                      Hwmon says 10% wear

Although the charge light starts to blink after a while. Ive had it plugged in for days, I don't think it got above 82%.they said it ran fine on battery before the tea spill
