    Weller WD1 with T12 Tips

    Dear BC,

Today, by luck & chance I found a used Weller WD1 soldering station in my used local market for a very good price and I couldn't say no

The seller sold it as it's with no warranty and no return, I accepted his t&c since he gave it on my asking price, only the station nothing else with

My question, is there a way to mod a T12 with this station or someone did like this modification before

    Thank & waiting your replies

Re: Weller WD1 with T12 Tips

    Hi again,

I found Weller EC1301 iron handle 5 pin, and I have Weller WD1 station

I found the 5 pin diagram for the iron handle:

Pin 1:- Grey - Element High From Transformer 24V
Pin 2:- Grey - Element Low to Diode/Triac
Pin 3:- White - Thermistor High to Adjustment Pot'r
Pin 4:- Purple - Thermistor Low to LF353 + input circuit
    Pin 5:- Black - Earth to Tip/Barrel

I want to find a way to join the 7 pin station with the 5 pin handle

    Please advise

i dont know if the sensors are the same,
there is/was a guy who built a universal soldering controller and had documented a lot of different hand pieces.

what you need to find out is 2 things,
does the original iron use a PTC resistor or a thermocouple that generates voltage.
and if it is a thermocouple, is it in series with the heater or does it have seperate connections.

        T12 uses an inline thermocouple,
weller used to use thermisters - dont know if they still do though.
