128 bit dimms? Thought dimms were 64 bit and chips need factors of 64?

      128 is a factor of 64x2.

        128 is a multiple of 64, not a factor.

To be clear, if there was a 128 bit chip, they'd either have to waste half of the bits, or have to select which half to write to / read from, adding much complexity.
