    Asus m5a78l-m lx3 no video

Hi! How are they? I enter an Asus M5A78L LX3 motherboard that does not give video. I was measuring and I have 12v / 3v / 5v / 1.2v, when I connect a graphics card the cooler of the same turns a little and stops. The cpu fan always runs. Any guide to follow? the reality is that I am not guided much in desktop mother. Thank you so much

Do you see video with the video card connector?

The fan is not always required to be on. It is thermally activated. If there is a high temperature on the video gpu chips, the thermal sensor will then turn on the fan to cool the video card.

Is the motherboard new? If not new, did it work before for you?

Thanks for answering. The motherboard was brought in by a customer. The reality is that I am half lost as to what to measure. It seems to have all the voltages, just in case discard bios but it remains the same. I am testing it with a functional video card

What model is the graphics card you`re testing with, the PCI-E slot on the motherboard supports PCIe 2.0
Do you have an image from the onboard graphics .

It is a 1060 3gb, the plate is mine, not the client's. I am testing with a phenom 2 x4 945 does not have integrated video

              He's testing a GPU (GTX1060 3Gb)

When he says 'the plate is mine' he means the motherboard is mine. This often happens translating from Spanish - 'Motherboard' or 'Placa Principal' translates as 'Plate' in English for some reason.

You need to check the resistance from all of the inductor coils on the Graphics card, to ground - with the power switched off.

Have a look at this video to know where to check, it's a different card (GTX 280) but the principal is the same. These reading are on a working card

Let us know what resistance you see on every coil.

Sorry for my English! The problem is with the motherboard, not the graphics card

No worries, although I am English, I live in Spain (canary islands) so I know how easy it is for confusion to occur!

I found the boardview file for your motherboard, it should be one of these two - that should help you to repair it

                          Boardviewer is a free download
                          http://boardviewer.net/

There is no Board Viewer instruction manual that I ever found so I kinda made my own.

I have been analyzing with the help of the boardview and notice this variation in #pltrst measuring on the graphics chipset. I also let the same measurement on the bridge for reference. Sorry for the noise of my oscilloscope I had no where to get good ground

I have a similar issue with a similar board ASUS m4a785td-v evo. I replaced a Capacitor that was broken and cleaned up the board which removed a few shorts in the 3.3v rail due to corrosion.

with ram and CPU it powers on without booting, so i decided to hit it a few times with the reset button while still on you can see the fans speed up to max speed for a split second then after a few flashes on the IRDY led on the POST card it booted up to the bios screen, while in the bios screen it froze, this happened a few times.

After reading the post a while back about someone with a am3+ board with same issues and fixed it by pushing on the Northbridge. I tried to reflow the north and southbridge with a cheap hot air station and plenty of flux. Now it doesnt even boot, fan spins no video output. (i was testing with onboard graphics only) .

Gave up on the board for now...
