    Replace M2 key E with M2 key M ?!

Question : on a motherboard that has port M2 NGFF key E, it is possible to unstick it and be replaced with an identical port but key M ? Normally there would be problems because they are the same number of pins , only a possible BIOS problem ...
I have a friend who has a Z97 EVGA Classified and " got stuck " when he saw that he could not put an SSD in this port but will have to buy a PCIe SSD or PCIe adapter with M2 type M port.

Sorry for too late response, I was really upset then and I neglected posting.
Is an EVGA Z97 Classified and talking about , as specified in the first post .
It sought direct installation of a high performance SSD on M2 port (Samsung 950Pro NVMe), but this motherboard has a M2 slot with key type E, which allows only certain type SSD mSATA.
I have believed that it is possible to peel off the key port type E to be replaced by a key port type M.
Now is available a PCIe 4x adapter for that, but the onboard M2 slot is useless...
