Need recommendation for soldering station or iron

I have an older , cheap weller soldering station, and 2-3 irons. This is the one that's basically a lamp dimmer, and I think the iron is something like 30 watts. It just does not work well at all for desoldering and resoldering on tv boards.

I'm wanting to get something I can use right now just for light and occasional work on boards. Desoldering components for testing, and being able to resolder. I don't need to do any micro stuff like soldering IC chips, and I don't have much of a budget at all.

Is there a such thing as a cheap iron or station that can do the job for now? Thanks for any ideas!

mcmelectronics.com has lots of brands and price levels. Do a search for solder station or solder iron. Weller is hard to beat for reliability and price. The Tenma (house brand) choices are cheaper but will do the job.

        no they wont.

get a hakko clone that uses T12 tips.
go on ebay and search "soldering T12"
