Trick for assist in measuring tiny parts

Hey many of you probably already do this but i want to post this to help more people like me

I have been having a lot of trouble identifying sizes of tiny items since I've started doing a lot more SMD work. I just happened to think of this out of desperation since I've been trying to find this replacement jack and every one I find is too big... my eyes are lying to me. On top of that I can't see the mm scale very well, my age is catching up with me. two times now I measured and still got it wrong (603 and 805 resistors... LOL)
So here is a handy way for me to solve this problem once and for all....

See photos they are self explanatory.. what is not is why it took ME so long to think of this.

After an hour of searching i found out this type is a JST-SH 1.0mm pin pitch.... LOL
