215-0674042 to 215-0674058, POST but no iGPU

    Hi,
I replaced the AMD northbridge part number 215-0674042 by a 215-0674058 on an H-AIRA-RS780L-uATX board.
Now it POSTs but does 2 short 1 long beeps 5 times, meaning the iGPU doesn't initialize.

The PCI id should be the same between 215-0674042 and 215-0674058 so the BIOS should not require to be edited.

Am I missing something? Did I kill the new AMD northbridge?

Are 215-0674042 and 215-0674058 fully compatible?
they may have some minor internal differences.

Well I'm not really sure, that's why I am asking.
I thought they used the same VBIOS. Only if they had different PCI id that'd need to be edited, but I read on some Russian forums that both chips have the same PCI id (0x9616)

by reading this thread, I have got a question: Is the following paragraph true?
"In general, we can replace a GPU by a similar pin-compatible model and it probably works fine. In contrast, pin-compatible northbridges of different models have minor or major differences. so a northbridge cannot be replaced by a pin-compatible different model."
        ???

For AMD northbridges there are a lot of interchangeable chips but if you want the iGPU to work you may need to edit the BIOS to change the PCI id (if it's different).

For Intel chips you have to use the same chip, for NVidia MCP there are only a few chips that are interchangeable.

I don't have much experience on this so I often check on ******* if someone tried a replacement.

After 2 years and a half, this one is finally fixed. (started with a BIOS request here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=69844 )
Ended up buying the correct chip and everything works properly. Lesson learnt, don't waste time trying to use another model number if a Russian guy hasn't confirmed it working on your board yet…

Although I think if I tried to use another model it's because the correct one wasn't available at that time.

I also added a fan on the northbridge, maybe it'll help it not fail too soon again…
