The Cheap Duo - Two SiS machines

Just as the title states. Two cheap SiS machines, surprisingly stable.

What I will tackle in the near future (the build will be slightly postponed due to slight stomach issues - am still recovering and my physical power (sorry if it sounds weird,English isn't quite my primary language) isn't the best at the moment. Especially with the diet I have to take at the moment.) are two SiS based machines.

The first one is a IPC rebranded Mitac 7521T. Why did I feel the need to tackle this machine? Well, just look at the specs:

    CPU - P3 1100MHz Coppermine
RAM - 384MB RAM w/ 16MB share (I can select how much shared VRAM it can use, forgot what's the maximum amount though. Probably somewhere in the 64-128MB range?)
HDD - 60GB Fujitsu IDE HDD - originally had a 20GB HDD which I upgraded for more storage.
Chipset/GPU - SiS 630 (forgot which version is it, though I recall seeing an E so it could be a 630E)
OS - Windows 2000 Datacenter Server - was already on the HDD (for reasons unknown to me) and it seems to have been a clean install. Only needed the driver disc which I surprisingly managed to find on a generic drivers site. Yes, you have to burn a disc to get the drivers.

I haven't gotten much past installing some games on it (NFS II and Porsche 2000, Chicken Invaders 2, Bongo Boogie (a rather obscure Breakout styled game that I couldn't find without being cracked already) and Mario Forever) but I plan on adding some more stuff.

The PC build is also a SiS speciality, and with more cheapo galore:

MB - PCChips M810LR ver 8.0 (w/ Matsonic branded BIOS)
    CPU - Duron 850MHz skt462
    GPU - random Geforce 2 MX400 64MB AGP
    RAM - 256MB PC133
PSU - Premier LC-C400ATX (what, you thought I'd install a quality PSU for a PCChips? )
Case - some Deer-built "CompRace" case with only one removable panel (yes, some of Deer's cases were absolutely THAT cheap)
    ODD - Lite-On DVDROM/CDRW (that hopefully works)
    HDD - 10GB Seagate ST310211A
    OS - Windows ME, 4.90.3000

Pictures coming soon, especially once I get the build done.
    Main rig:
    Gigabyte B75M-D3H
    Core i5-3470 3.60GHz
    Gigabyte Geforce GTX650 1GB GDDR5
    16GB DDR3-1600
    Samsung SH-224AB DVD-RW
    FSP Bluestorm II 500W (recapped)
    120GB ADATA + 2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB
    Delux MG760 case

If it's a S370 1100/100 Pentium3 (not celeron) CuMine; SL5QW, those are actually quite rare and worth an easy $100.

It actually is! I'm not keen on selling it though.

Might get a slotket and plop it in some ABIT BE6-II action

I ran a pair of SL5QW's in Abit Slotket2's in an asus P2B-DS w/ 1gb RAM and a voodoo 3. Fabulous retro setup....I actually sold that system for a small fortune.

I just can't stop loving how after you mentioned of the SL5QW pair, I managed to find just another one.

If only I could find a compatible slotket... the only one I remember having is Mendocino only, as far as my memory goes.

The Abit Slotket II will run CuMine's, as well as the UpgradeWare 370 Slot-T, which will also run Tualatins as well as coppermines. Both support SMP.....which if you haven't noticed is an old specialty of mine.

Re: The Cheap Duo - Two SiS machines

Mine is just some noname slotket. Though thanks for the tip of slotkets, I pinmodded it and fired up an SL4C8 CuMine 1GHz just fine on the BE6-II. The SL5QW didn't want to POST, for some unknown reason (I wouldn't eliminate the possibility of it being fried)
