    Toshiba 55L310U

Right 1/3 of LCD screen is dim. Picture is good otherwise. Research suggests LED strips, but thought I would see what you pros think before I fix it until it is broke. Thanks for help/suggestions.

get an led tester and save a lot of guesswork, about 20 bucks on amazon or ebay.

Found this hot spot on secondary side of power supply board.

        EDIT:
        Did some more testing.

        LEDs connected at 13-pin:
        LED 1-: 56vdc
        LED 2-: 58vdc
        LED 3-: 92vdc

        LEDs disconnected at 13-pin:
        All are 113vdc.

This means that there are no working LEDs along the Led3 line.

Dim side-closest to camera lense-is the darker side. LEDs glowing but very poorly and must be the LED3 circuit lotas suggested. Looks like 12 strips total. So it must be 12 vertical strips. Could I get away with just replacing 4 strips instead of all 12? Amazing this TV is almost not worth fixing.

EDIT: Pulled led strips and found one bad bulb on far right (fourth from bottom) and another on fourth strip from right bulb (upper-most).

Can we buy just the diodes and replace individually on the strips? I pulled the faulty LEDs and jumped with wire and now all LEDs work, except the two missing of course. I only need two diodes then epoxy the diffusers back to the strip.

P.S.: This is not a resell TV.

It is better to replace everything at once with new ones (they have begun to degrade the crystal), if you change only two leds, then wait for a repeat, others will start to burn and each time you will have to change them.

You can fix however you like. You will see some color variation from the ones you replace.

Thanks all for the help. It's fixed and good enough now for a free TV.

Turn down the backlights as low as possible.
