    New to monitor repair

    Hello all
    I new to the soldering caps on pcb boards I just started to repair
    lcd monitors with a lot of help from reading this forum & youtube. I have four successful repairs so far and made a profit doing it. my question is I would like to buy caps from bad caps is their a differance from motherboard caps and lcd
    powersupply caps.

    If anything, motherboard capacitors usually have to be much smaller in diameter and have a bit better specifications than monitor power supply capacitors. So, the motherboard capacitors are generally a bit more expensive.

    Monitor power supplies capacitors usually have to be much smaller in height, so to make up for reduced height, they use capacitors rated for higher voltage and implicitly larger diameter - you usually see capacitors rated for 16-25v while most motherboard capacitors nowadays that fail are rated for 6.3v-10v - the ones dying in general are near the processor and the heat it generates.

      Yes I am sure that with motherboard caps you need to take the capacitors ripple rating into account.
      Fixed so far : 1 Home cinema system, 16 LCD Monitors, 4 LCD TV's
