    "ATWY" caps on ~2007 gateway

Hey guys, I pulled an ~2007 era Gateway system out of the closet. It has an AMD Athlon64 X2 +5200, and an ECS motherboard with "ATWY" caps on, which are reddish. None are bulging, but I'm considering cleaning up the system for re-use, and I want to know if it would be worth recapping it, or how bad these caps really aer. I don't recall seeing them on the list.

They're TK. Reported to be bad here, even though not sure if they're the worst.

Yup. TK indeed. It stands for Terrible Kapacitors.

Bear in mind, though, that, if it's the board I'm thinking of, the chipsets fail on them sometimes too, as they have known manufacturing flaws which you can't fix unless you replace the chipset.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards
