    Lenovo G700 help/suggestions

    Hello everyone,

I have a Lenovo G700 with and awful Intel 2020M but has a dedicate GT 720M.
I have tried to upgrade the CPU to a i3/i5/i7 all 2nd gen as they have the same socket.
It does have the HM70 chipset which whitelists all CPU`s but 2020M and 2030M.

    My question now:

Is it possible to remove that whitelist in order to put a different CPU in it?

    Regards

No. Stick to Pentium/Celeron or replace PCH/motherboard with HM76.

      Oh...
      Well...
      Was worth a try...
I managed to put a i7-2670QM in it.
      Works really fast. Really nice.
But shuts down after 30 min or so.
Was monitoring thermals as I thought that was the issue (that was before I found out about the chipset restriction).
Would have been really nice to make it work...
