![]() this oldie works fine but one of the loading gears has sheared a couple of teeth
the sony part number is : 4 910 454 01 ive searched the net with no luck (due to its age) can anyone help? the load mech uses two of these both same its always the last gear that engages with the tray that wears . ironically when i retired and closed my shop i binned around 30 cd players , isnt it always the same ![]() perhaps someone knows where i can buy one any ideas please |

![]() I checked the old Sony database 4-910-454-01 changed to 4-910-497-01 then to 9-910-999-31 (part nla) The part was nla back in 2000

![]() maybe you could make one either by bonding 2 nylon gears together, or getting it 3d printed.
you may even find one - you can get gear kits for makers now. |

Not sure this would be viable for a one off , but i required a gear for VCR , that i just couldn't find anywhere . I approached a company dealing with CAD & 3D printing . Sent off the broken gear . They created a 3D imaging , then printed quite a few out for me . If it's a common failure , you could have several printed , then sell some on E BAY , to recover you costs . Just an idea . |

as this model uses two cogs the same and its only the last one that engages with the load tray that seems to wear |

I considered making a mould and casting but in the end bought a donor off ebay. |

![]() i have thrown out so many optical decks over the years that i couldnt count them.
i never thought to salvage the gears first. i used to keep good loading belts though. |

![]() when i retired i closed my shop and threw out countless faulty vcrs, dvds, cd .
then along comes covid so now am enjoying a few repairs to keep the brain working just wished id salvaged some parts. thanks for trying to help |
