Re: How many caps should i replace.

Now i'm starting to get pissed off.

    My reciept looks like this:

But the webpage looks like this:

    http://www.computekinc.us/prod01.htm

Which makes it look like i just ordered the wrong part.

But!.......if you click on that button you are taken to a page with a different description than "Motherboard Capacitor".

Question: Can i complain to PayPal since the transaction was through them? Should i inform PayPal before i complain to Computek, so they can't change the web page before PayPal can verify the complaint?

I was just wondering about how and whether this has been resolved. I have done business with Computek, Inc. a few times myself. Thanks.

I've had no reply from that email...............so far.
It's not like i'm required to buy from them anymore though.

Be careful with CompuTek! You now know what to look for.

              There!

              Now its fixed! (i think)

All thats left is to put the board back and power it up.

                ---------------

I'll leave it running for a few hours to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

Re: How many caps should i replace.

Jeez! The butane to refill my PyroPen was across the room so i reached for my 35W Weller Iron instead. What a pain in the ass!

It wouldn't heat up the joint at all.

I do think that my PyroPen gets things a little too hot. If the solder joint isn't attempted within 1 minute the tip becomes oxidized and won't conduct heat very well.

I should really look for a 60W iron.

                  ---------------

Maybe this is OK? (Weller W60P-3)

Re: How many caps should i replace.

OK, the W60P3 arrived from the link i posted, and i've had a chance to play around with it a bit. I think the heat range closely matches my expectations but the tip it shipped with is a fine pencil point tip.

That wouldn't have been my choice for an ideal tip.

I think i'll order a 1/8 to 3/16 inch screwdirver tip before i try it on a motherboard.
