I have made a video of the screen when its just powered on, no data cable. There is no "on screen display" and there is artifacting (stripes of colours moving across the screen. I went to visit relatives and left the screen plugged in but switched off and the PC near enough idle.
The screen was bought from Amazon in 2017 and warranty is 24 months; so no help from Samsung. I am typing on a Samsung Syncmaster which I repaired with the info found in this thread:
