Samsung LA37A550 faded pale washed out picture

Hello- I have a Samsung LA37A550. The picture suddenly faded and is all pale and washed out. I can see the image but it is very pale and has lost its color. The repair shop says it is the LED panel and they cannot supply. Could it not be the T-Con board. Any ideas please? Picture attached.

Looks like tcon, if it uses the AS15-f chip then it's almost certainly the tcon.

checked and it does use tcon with the as15-f chip.
New tcon should fix your TV.

Hello all I checked the chip and it is the AS15-F chip as you indicated. I don't have the skills to replace the chip so will have to buy a new T-Con board which is expensive. (I really admire those who can do that minute soldering!) Will the following information help to reasonably ensure that it is the AS15 chip and that a new board will help before I buy the board?
I checked the VGMA voltages as recommended and they are as follows:
            1-15.47
            2-15.47
            3-15.47
            4-15.47
            5-15.42
            6-15.38
            7-14.60
            8-14.24
            9-15.25
            10- 15.48
            11-15.48
            12-6.58
            13-6.53
            14-6.26
            15-5.07
            16-4.84
            17-4.36
            18-3.61
            19-2.98
            20-0.71
            21-0.59
            22-0.54

            The Vcon voltage is 6.31

I would appreciate any assistance thanks.

Yes. those voltages are off what they should be.
The chip can be removed using chipquick and a regular iron if you don't have access to hot air. They are not to hard to solder back on once it's lined up and you have a couple of legs soldered.

Alternative to changing the chip yourself--Find a repair shop that repairs the likes of PS2/3 and X-Box, they are used to that SM stuff--take them 10 mins to do. The chip is peanuts and the repair shouldn't cost a lot....

Thanks diif and Alistair for the advice. I go to Hong Kong regularly so I will try get the chip replaced there as they fix anything! Thanks very much for the advice. I can get a new T-Con board on eBay for 30 pounds so it may be a better option if it is trustworthy (from China)!

Alistair Teljoy is still going but they have branched out into all electronics, white goods etc and moved off only renting TVs if that's how you remember them. Also all over SA now but not big.

Thanks to all for the advice on changing the As15-F chip. I had it done chop chop in Hong Kong and it cost a few dollars. The good news is that the TV works perfectly now!
Unfortunately the small grey pad looks like silicone on top of the chip (thermal pad?) is now missing. I presume I need to get another pad to avoid the chip overheating? Thanks again all!

Ive just changed a AS-15 in a slightly earlier set, LE-37R88. With this one--it had horrible colour and rather dark.

There was (and in most cases) no heat-pad on the AS-15, so I wouldn't worry about it....

I dont think its heat that kills them--They seem to have a finite life though....

Thanks for the info on Teljoy, They were just a TV rental when I was with them....
