    Ben Heck Show: PSU Fail?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NVlfZrv1GI

He's one of the bigger electronics hack channels... and the middle of his latest video has so much PSU bullshit that I swore I was at a cattle ranch's manure pile.

I'm posting it here since he's a minor youtube celebrity...

So, BCN junkies, how many PSU related errors can you find in what he says?

    Current rating probably isn't overstated?
    Not on this planet.

blue line is -12v not 5v constant!
    Ovbiously wrong.

blue is stupid color for led?
Blue is the best color EVER.

tape insulation on cut wires will not last.
He should have opened the PSU and at least cut them off at their solder joints.

and for a bonus point, "dust causes static electricity buildup".
No, the opposite is true, static electricity causes dust buildup.

Wow exactly what I was thinking! Blue is the best indicator led most of the time (or at least for me).
This video makes me want to make the bench power supply I've been planning on making for the last few weeks now. I want mine to have adjustable voltages, though. I want to use jumpers to select the voltage and maybe put a tranistor (in the worst case senario a resitor) or two in order to get some non standard voltages.
Has anyone done something simular to what I'm planning? This is going to be my first multi voltage custom made power supply so any tips are welcome.
