Can I use 470uF wet cap instead of 330uF solid cap?

Well the long story short.. I asked my sister to get me some caps and the guy in the store completely misunderstood what I wanted. I asked for a 270uF 16V solid cap, he said he only had 330uF and I said OK. What I actually got was a 470uF 16V regular capacitor

Now I'm not gonna argue over 50 cents so I'm thinking - can I just use this cap instead? I'm a bit impatient and want to fix the motherboard as soon as possible

    Thanks

It just occured to me that what I thought was a solid polymer cap, could just as well be a regular 'wet' cap. How can I be sure? It hasn't got any vents.

Do you have a picture of it? What are the markings?
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

The mobo is an ASUS P5KPL-AM.

        Markings on the cap:
        5K017
        270
        16V

          That is an Apaq polymer.

Where do I get a replacement? Everything on eBay is either from China or Hong Kong which is one and the same...

If you can find a dead GPU or motherboard with the polymers you could salvage one.
              Guns don't solve problems. I'll take 12

Yeah just my luck.. I had two dead GPUs which I threw away two or three weeks ago

Would this be a suitable replacement:

                The original question remains:
Can you use a regular cap in place of a polymer?

No, you shouldn't use a regular electrolytic for that. 270uF 16v electrolytics will have too low ripple and too high esr.

Those Fujitsu polymers on eBay.de would be good.

Thanks. I just remembered that I still have and old 775 mobo in the workshop. Maybe there's a suitable donor cap on it. If not, I'll be getting those Fujitsu caps.

I received Fujitsu caps this morning and replaced the broken cap. The motherboard works fine

                      Thanks everyone
