if i said it once.. well then i guess i said it once.. don't make me repeat myself... i get confused when i do.. but as the rules state, attach pictures.. links bad, attachments good...

i cropped to take the blank wall from the size and shrunk it to fit here for you..

Forgot to ask, do you have everything to get it going or just the board???

what a weird looking thing, it looks like it's coming from 70s...

that chemicon kzg looks bulged to(?)

          as for polymers...
          perhaps
          https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=77
if they're working at 2.5v or less(but don't get these if you don't know for sure about the operating voltage)
or this if higher voltage is required
          https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=79

          OR perhaps
          http://stores.ebay.com/PC-MotherBoar...34Q2ec0Q2em322

dunno what polymers kc has and is he willing to sell...

            they're 680uf 4v

really I found some nichicon solids: PLE0G681MDO1

I can actualy get them at the local mouser hq, but I have to be a business to do it (according to a guy I know that works there). I might be able to get the company I work for to get 10 of them, unless tc can get them here, or somewhere else for a better price

i know they are, but vrm is probably working on less than 4v voltage ergo 2.5v perhaps would fit...
and capacitance a bit up or down won't change much.

offcourse if you can get exact replacements, get them, by all means.

                Re: Help and Isotope out

well you can say words like 'probably' but going down in voltage might not be a good idea cause I don't exactly have the circuit design from Asus, so I can't just guess

yeah I know you can vary the capicatance a little bit, but I would rather go up slightly then down slightly

hey TC can you get these for me? maybe you can make these a pre-made kit for the p5gtc deluxe, you usually get discounts for larger orders.

if it boots at all, you could measure the voltage on those caps...then you'll know.
if it doesn't boot, turning it on could be hazardous.
in that case somebody who has working board could be able to tell you, but by judging interest for this thread not that many people have/have worked with this board.

then again, thread is misnamed, and misplaced...there is asus subforum here...
send topcat a PM, perhaps he didn't see this thread..or perhaps he doesn't do such one-off deals...

                    change out the kzg's too.

I have some 16/1200 rubys to replace the KZG'S

I'm still not sure i'm comfortable with replacing 680's with 560', little too close for comfort for me

From the look of those OST's they aren't even poly's. The general rule of thumb when replacing with poly's is 1/2 the capacitance, bulk capacitance isn't really needed in the VRM, what matters is ESR, which poly's have extremely low ESR.

you probably did not notice it.. it is in the announcements and news section

and when i asked if you had everything, what i meant was when you got the thing, was it just the board or whole setup.. processor, ram, moltherboard, etc.. was just curious..

I can get everything, this board can take most any 775 below Pentium D's., and its dual DDR/DDR2

someone might want to think about updating the rules section in all the boards right?

It's better to just upload the photos here so when your hosting site goes down, or you move the files, etc (which will happen eventually) then other people can still see what was going on.

well, thank you for the 10 polys TC, but i'm declaring this one fail. I should of known better with all that charring next to the VRM. Power light comes on but it dosen't even turn on, switched out the clear jumper and still nothing at all. it was worth a try though

hey TC how come these caps have shorter leads then i'd expect? I've gotten other caps before and they usually have much longer leads and one lead longer indicating polarity (which is indicated by the big ass painted half of the cap anyways).

oh well. Next I have this cisco switch, which does actually turn on it its current state, but acts kinda wierd. 22 bad caps. but i'm not going to mess with it till I get my hakko 808. Desoldering using the 'pull out' method is messy (method also messy when referring to sex, but is safer in that case). what pisses me off is I got it ebay new for $187 /w shipping. I just saw the had the damn thing @ frys for $159!!! I had no idea frys carries it. and now I have to also wait a few days for it to come in grrr

                                      recheck your work.
the polys you got were prepped for an insertion machine.
its an ordering option from sanyo.
