    capacitor replacement rule?

    HI TO ALL

    can i replace the given below the capacitors with one another?

    on board is 6.3v 220 and other is 220 6F something written (10v as the shopkeeper claimed)

    you can replace with tantalum 330 6,3v.
    Or replace with the same capacity but look at the voltage. DOn't replace with lower voltage

        Yes, higher voltage is ok.

        Also check the physical case size of the capacitor. Tantalum caps have for example case B, case C, etc reference. The datasheet will show how they define the length x width x height. The height may or may not be important.

        For example, if the height = thickness of the part may be required to be thin so it can fit under a shield.

        Try to match the dimensions of the original, where possible.

          Update: the caps in your pics are not tantalum style. These are electrolytics.

          The voltage is in the markings.

          The color code often links to the manufacturer and also defines the grade for max current support. The lower the ESR rating, the higher the current the part can support.

          For electrolytics, try to source polymer caps. They will cost a bit more but last longer and can support higher current.

              capacitors dont care about current. it filter VOLTAGE

                  ripple current does not have ANYTHING with CIRCUIT current. it is current by ohms law that goes thru capacitor. Aripple=Voltage on capacitor/ESR

                  thats why electrolytic capacitors have low esr because ripple current goes through it and heat it up
