                      Try ... autopatch 1.BIN

"From command line use either (Windows) cmd.exe or (Linux) python3 /path/to/autopatch Lenovo_T440s.bin as follows:

                      autopatch 1.BIN

                      THAT'S IT!"

I think autopatcher.cmd is for DRAG AND DROP.

If I give you remote desktop, can you remove my x240 in supervisor password with anydesk?

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

I've been working on a recycling-pile X1 Carbon Gen 2 with a power-on password and supervisor password and this thread has been a lifesaver. Big thank yous to Knucklegrumble, Maxpower3, SMDFlea and everyone else that's been helpful here.

I was able to patch the ROM I dumped just fine with the script.

The hard part was programming the ROM in-circuit, since my usual go-to tool (a Bus Pirate V3.1) didn't have enough juice to do the job, although it was able to read data out of it just fine. A 3.3v modded CH341A did the trick though.

When I booted up with the patched ROM, I followed the instructions above to the letter.

STEP 1: Flash and replace current BIOS with the generated patch file
                                          STEP 2: Boot the machine
STEP 3: Press ENTER/F1/etc. to enter BIOS settings
STEP 4: Enter any character when asked for Supervisor Password
STEP 5: Press enter when it shows Hardware ID
STEP 6: Press space bar 2x when asked
                                          STEP 7: Turn off machine
                                          STEP 8: Restore original BIOS
STEP 9: Reset BIOS settings to factory defaulT
First problem I ran into was steps 5/6. After getting past the password I didn't see anything at all pop up on the screen. Just a black screen.

The next problem I ran into was at step 9. Although the boot password was blank now (yay!), none of the critical BIOS settings could be selected or changed. Hitting F9 to force defaults did nothing as well.

At least I could look at the settings in the BIOS and see that the "Internal Device Access -> Bottom Cover Tamper Detection" setting was "Disabled". Whew.

So the system boots now, but I can't actually modify any settings in the BIOS.

Anyone have any ideas? Should I post the BIOS file for analysis?

I'm going to run through the process one more time to see what happens, just for good measure.
