    [HELP] Lenovo V15-IIL "partial dead"

    no history about this notebook

if i put its power supply or i connect my power supply, i have the charging led.

when i press power button nothing happen

i've a strange behavior of my power supply as soon as i connect it to the notebook. i have no shorts, but i have 0,950amp draw

PU9700 become hot when i connect power supply

    PU100 and PU9700 become hot+battery

but it seems there are no shorts around those IC

    i have 3,3alw 5v alw 3,3 on keyboard and 3,3 on bios

    STRANGE FACT:

If i connect ONLY battery and try to power on directly from keyboard connector (power on pin) i have a flashing power light that become fixed when i connect also power supply.

if i disconnect power supply it stays fixed

but if i disconnect the battery, connect ONLY power supply , and try to short pin, i have NOTHING

Hey, check resistance to ground at pins 5 and 20 of PU9700. Check PQ100 and PQ101 in diode mode.

PU9700 is getting hot for some reason-excessive current draw. Measure resistance on LDO3(pin5) and LDO5(pin20). This is a multi regulator with 3V/5V pwm+mosfet+dc-dc built in single chip.If resistance is ok with these two pins, then measure resistance on pin28/29. Lets focus with this IC first.

        Pin 5 65kohm
        pin 20 26 kohm
        pin 28 8mohm
        pin 29 0,46kohm

        STRANGE FACT:

If i connect ONLY battery and try to power on directly from keyboard connector (power on pin) i have a flashing power light that become fixed when i connect also power supply.

if i disconnect power supply it stays fixed

but if i disconnect the battery, connect ONLY power supply , and try to short pin, i have NOTHING

        PIN 6 (3.3ALW_p) SEEMS strange....11ohm resistence....in diode mode i have 0,007

ok maybe i've found something...i've isolated pin 6 removing pl9700....not short anymore

other side of pl9700 goes to a jumper to 3,3alws...this line has a super low resistence 10 ohm...

where is generated 3,3always? could it be pu9700 the responsable?

Open PJ9700, check PU9700 behavior, heating and so on. 10 Ohms is too low reading. Inject 1V/1A on the system side (NOT IC SIDE) of opened PJ9700, check for any heating on the board.

Thank you for your reply! What do you mean with “system side?”

Re: [HELP] Lenovo V15-IIL "partial dead"

System side is consuming side, IC side is source (generating) side.

Could you show me where to check on boardview? Because i don’t understand….sorry

removing jumper and inserting original power supply, pu9700 become very hot, and also superio!

THE short is on the line you indicated me....,:this line is 3,3 always" and i think it is generated by pu9700!

however injecting 1v/1a on this line i have 1v/0.088a an nothing getting hot..

Removing pu9700 i read always 10ohm.. and i still don't find anything getting hot injiecting voltage!

inserting original power suppply without pu9700 i have nothing getting hot

So with pad PJ9700 open PU9700 still gets hot?
You could also try to raise injection voltage to nominal 3.3V with same 1A limit...

yes, but this line seem still shorted even after i have removed pu9700! so i think the problem is not pu9700

                                Injecting 3,3 i have this

                                How is it possible?

So u inserted power while pu9700 was removed?? Well then it's end of story. Don't waste more time to fix it.

Lot of things will go bad when u apply 19v to board without 3v/5v regulator. Pch is one of them .
