Lenovo Yoga 3-1470 80JH Keyboard issue

Customer dropped their laptop and I replaced the screen. They came back with it a few days later saying the keyboard wasn't working properly.

When typing slowly it's fine but if you type fast it misses certain keys randomly.

I bought a new keyboard and that is doing the same. Is it coincidentally a bad replacement keyboard or can there be a motherboard issue that can cause this problem?

I can do board repair so if there are any values that you want me to measure I'll provide the info.

    Many thanks in advance.

From internet searches, the Yoga 3 = NM-A381 logic board ?

Found the schematic for NM-A381. The keyboard scanning is performed by the IT8386E-192 CX LQFP-128L device @ UE1.

These parts are often with an embedded 8051 microcontroller. The clock source for this component and very likely the internal microcontroller appears to be an external RTC clock crystal with the value of 32.768Khz.

    See attached.

Confirm this clock crystal is stable for the ITE device. Perhaps reflow the supporting parts for this clock source.

From the symptoms, appears that the clock to drive the keyboard scanning is off since you have replaced the keyboard itself. Other than this, consider to reflash this ITE controller but personally do not have this experience, yet.

I`m no pro just a hobbyist. To program the EC he will need a special programmer such as a Vertyanov JIG ,SVOD3/4,RT809H

        Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
        • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
        • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
        • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
        • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
but when I press and hold...

820-02020 Super Weird Issue: Keyboard Input Character Map "Wrong"?
        by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

        1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

        2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...

lenovo yoga 7 14itl5 keyboard and trackpad issue
        by kjchatman
i've done several clean installations of windows 10 and 11 to try to resolve why the keyboard and trackpad only works in the bios setup. there are no errors in the device manager. since they work in the bios setup then can i assume that this is a software issue?

        Hi guys!
I recently bought a Lenovo convertible Laptop (Yoga 6 13ALC6) in faulty condition. It originally had a corrupted BIOS but I was able to resolve this by flashing a clean bin. Now the laptop works fine except for one thing, the keyboard. It does not work in Windows but it works in BIOS setup. The keyboard itself is probably not at fault, every single key...
