Default Panasonic exits VRLA market

You guys may be interested in this - Panasonic is abandoning the lead-acid market for good. So now only Yuasa remains.

And the Chinese companies too? Aren't they flooding the market? (incidentally, the photo in the link says... MIC...)

Kind of sad, lead acid batteries are "easy" to recycle where lithium ion's difficulty ends up getting binned.

Panasonic VRLA were top quality, end of an era. There's nothing left but cheap chinese VRLA with not even 1/2 the lifetime. Just look inside, the lead plates look like they were made by kids, all mashed crooked.
People want the lowest price and here is the result. Race to the bottom for price and kill off the decent competitors.

for the last three years (pretty much since they sold it to Yuasa), panashitnic was one of the worst craps, yet often at double the price of pretty much anything else, I've lost some good moneit on that shit failing very prematurely

some Yuasa models seem to be very good though, for others, CSB seems to be the right choice - been acquired by Hitachi around the same time
