Modern electonics: Books, manuals, guides, etc

I was recently wondering why several searches at Badcaps didn't get me any info on printed books, guides or manuals on the basics of electronics, proper use of tools, how diagnose problems, etc. Certainly someone owns or has read a good guide guidebook and would have an opinion on what references a newcomer might look into... after all, we are not all trained repair technicians,.. are we?

If I missed a link or a useful thread, please forgive and post it here...Thanks !

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

I found these two texts at my library...
      1.)
Troubleshooting and Repairing Consumer Products by Homer L Davidson, 3rd Ed 2004....widely published author, reads oK, decent info on repairing actual 1990's digital stuff, and some good basic info on repairs...but not much on diagnosing LCDs.
      2.)
Troubleshooting Electronic Equipment by R.S. Khandpur, 2nd editing, 2007...
this is a great classroom text on theory and basics, reads very well at component level, with testing, and covers maintenance...worth keeping.

I gather both are available at Amazon

..?? does anyone have the Jestine Yong's 'LCD Monitor Repair' ?

I have it. It's pretty good, not quite the be-all end-all that it's advertised to be. Definitely good for someone with little to basic knowledge.
For folks with a lot of experience, it's not as useful.
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....
