I noticed yanz likes to upgrade preload power resistors to 5W bathtub-style wire-wounds. The axial lead (horizontal-mount) types are pretty awkward for this, so I thought I'd provide links to info about some radial lead (vertical-mount) types. These will also save a lot of PCB space if you build an external load box. I used to have a load box that I built in an old ATX P/S case. I kept and connected the fan, mounted the power resistors near the fan, and also had window detector circuits that drove LEDs that told me at a glance whether each O/P was in regulation. It was a nice go--no-go tester.
