Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
There might be a cold solder joint on the board for the VFD display tube filaments.
You bumped it changing the cap. Sometimes doing a repair breaks other things.
Either that or your cap replacement did not work out, something went wrong.

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
I was excited to find this forum and post because I've been dealing with a Jenn-air wall mount oven with a display that faded out years ago and can't get myself to pay $170 for a board to fix an oven that is probably not worth that amount. I actually found a deal on eBay about 6 years ago on a used board that fixed the problem but that one faded out after about a year.
I bought the capacitor recommended from this thread from DigiKey to replace the C3 cap. Got the cap and soldered it to the board. I replaced the board and plugged it in and voila, the display works and I began to celebrate and put the stove back together and within about 2 minutes I watched the display dim and vanish 😭.
Any idea about what went wrong with my repair?Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
Hi. I had the problem with my Jenn-air wall oven display being blacked out but the oven still worked. I replaced c3 and the display problem was fixed. One day I was using the oven for about 3hrs and it just shut off and I had to flip the switch at the circuit breaker to get the oven back on. Then after cooking for 30min I had the same problem. I then replaced all the caps on the 2 boards to see if that would solve my problem. I connected everything, turned it back on, and baked for about 45min. It's seemed to have been working fine but when the oven cooled down and the fan shut off, it started beeping nonstop and gave me a f1 error. Any suggestions to what the problem may be?Leave a comment:

Glad to hear the C3 fix worked for you! Per Hansson is going to edit the 1st post of this thread to add a little bit of clarity that has been realized over the almost 9 years that this thread has been going.Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
Well, C3 did the trick. Thanks bluto for the fix, and for researching the replacement part. For nearly 20 years this blank display has been to me like George Bailey's loose bannister knob in Its a Wonderful Life!

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
By looking at other pictures there should be no problem releasing the plastic that holds the vfd in place and tilting the display, the flat leads are flexable, just don't start flipping it back and forth.Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
The covered cap looks ok. There's a smudge under C3. My approach will be to replace C3 first and see if that fixes it. The other 2 caps next and then deal with the covered one as a last resort. I'll take pics when I next have it apart.
Thanks!Leave a comment:

MAYTAG: If it's not mentioned before in the thread it might be useful to post a picture of that cap, to get rid of any confusion
Also is it possible to read the component designation on the PCB for it without taking out the VFD?Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
I have ordered caps, but I have a question that I haven't seen raised. One of the caps on my board is under the display, which is connected by a couple dozen stiff wires. In order to replace the one cap I would need to bend that assembly about 90 degrees out and then back. Will the leads tolerate that kind of bending? Definitely would rather not de-solder all that. Hopefully it's just C3.
Thanks for this thread; our oven went dim many years ago and we've just lived with it. I'll be tickled if I can get the display lit again!Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
About a year ago my daughters gas range was having the same symptoms as blutos dim or no display so i removed the board and come to find out around the power connectors and various other solder joints had small micro fractures so i just refreshed all the solder joints and plugged it back in and watched it light up good as new cost $0.00 but my time which was well compensated with the smiles that were on my daughters and her husbands face was priceless, not to mention the food cooked on that range is killer.
Thanks Badcaps.net for the fix it inspiration. With the help of this site i have repaired numerous itemsLeave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
While replacing caps on the display board used to be a great idea, keep in mind that even with a working display pcb, the VFD displays wear out and dim with age. There is nothing you can do other than to replace the VFD tube itself - it is NOT an LCD. Good luck finding just the VFD...that's when you get to consider replacing the entire assembly.Leave a comment:

Wow, if you'd be inclined to sell it to me, I need one. My partner tried the fix and really fried the board bad. Hadn't practiced beforehand.Leave a comment:

I just want to thank those in this post. Was staring at a $300 new board, a $115 refurb (which I bought) and ended up fixing it myself (anyone need a board :-) for 38-cents! Glad I found this post!

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
These Jenn-Air wall ovens have the same problem as some Thermador wall ovens, one of witch i have and needs new capacitors. IIRC it needs two 470uf 35v capacitors and one 68uf 35v capacitor.Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
I looked at a picture of the board by googling the PN and finding it on a repair parts site. Its probably C6 or C7. Those two are on the secondary (low voltage) side of the power supply. The board looks like it has a the power supply build into it. The transformer near the lighting bolt icon both seem to indicate that. The 250v 47uf capacitor near that is the primary filter cap and those usually don't go bad. If the board works fine except for the display being blank, I would try replacing C6 and C7 first.Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
Hello all. I had a dim display on my jenn air slide in downdraft range and over time it went completely blank.
I read the posts on this forum about replacing a capacitor on the panel to restore the display.
The other day I pulled the panel and there are three capacitors - a C3, C6 and C7.
The C3 is a 47UF 250V, the C6 is a 680UF 25V, and the C7 is a 220UF 50V. I have not desoldered and tested these caps yet but wondering if anyone here knows which one is for the display? The control panel part number is WP8507P232-60.
Thanks!Leave a comment:

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
Just wanted to post a thank you. The display on my Jenn-Air wall oven was totally out but the oven still worked. I replace the 68uF capacitor that people had identified and the display works again.
A couple of silly capacitor questions? THe original capacitor looked fine with no obvious bulging. What is the failure mode under these conditions.
I noticed that some of the previously rebuilt boards, it looks like there is a resistor in series with the capacitor? Is that to protect the capacitor?
I was going to replace the other caps on the board but why mess with a good thing? It works now.
Take CareLeave a comment:

by asuwish824I recently purchased a Jenn Air Wall Oven model number jjs2730ws00. It functions properly except that the lcd display is rather dim. No adjustment in the settings seems to improve or even change the dimming/brightness of the display. My hope is I can repair the current display instead of purchasing a new or used unit to replace. I prefer to fix at the lowest point for the joy of the repair. Also throwing out what would otherwise be a perfectly good part just because perhaps a capacitor or other small part is bad seems obviously wasteful. Any guidance would be appreciated.

by Fsufan1391Hello everyone my oven is less than 2 years old and all of a sudden recently when i run the oven for 15 minutes or so and i am done with it and shut it off. after about 10 minutes it starts chiming and randomly putting it in different modes like the touch screen is being touched but no one is around it. I have tried to reset it by unplugging it multiple times and no luck. I took it apart to see the main board and everything looks fine. I am wondering if i should replace the main board or if its in the control panel. the touch screen is very responsive and works like it should. its only acting...

by Joe24Patient is a Maytag/Whirlpool/Kenmore clothes dryer. Not sure of exact model, doesn't matter. All boards are out of production.
Specific problem is a Maytag 8544799 / WP8544799 motor-control board, aka Diehl Controls 708879-05. Customer states the board "doesn't work, motor doesn't run". Not sure how the repairman made that assessment, or if it's even accurate. He can't get replacement boards, and the owner decided to buy a new dryer, so whether this board is the problem is speculation on his part. Again, doesn't matter.

by bpjlHello,
When starting the SEF 551.10 reflow oven, the following problem occurs:
It seems to me that this is related to corrupted software. Does anyone have files that can fix this device? Or maybe someone uses such an oven and is able to make a sector copy of the memory card located in the computer controlling this oven?
PS.: Of course, appropriate emails for help have been sent to the manufacturer and distributor in my country. No response yet, but I don't expect much. It's a fairly old device and from what I know, it's no longer... -
One day my microwave oven stopped heating.
It would turn on and rotate the plate but no heat.
I removed the cover and checked components with digital multimeter.
Found that the high voltage fuse was blown.
This is not the AC fuse, if the AC fuse was blown then the oven would appear totally dead.
Then I tried to find replacement fuse on local electronic parts stores and this specific value was not available so I got the closest I could find.
I replaced fuse and tried to heat up a glass of water.
