Re: What op amps in side the RME firefaces models?
thanks once again Khron you are a good web researcher...the internal RME design it seems pretty similar to MOTU design, it uses some visible IC's but I can not see what op amps it uses ....go on with the research especially of late and last models ufx and 802 or superiorLast edited by jocondor; 03-01-2016, 05:32 PM.

I'm still not quite sure just how relevant "what opamps are inside" is, for repairing / servicing this sort of units
If you're looking to upgrade opamps and such, that's a different story...Khron's Cave - Electronics - Audio - Teardowns - Mods - Repairs - Projects - Music - Rants - Shenanigans

Re: What op amps in side the RME firefaces models?
Did a bit more googling, and i came across this absolutely wonderful post, which i couldn't agree with more
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/7269605-post19.html (post #19)
It would seem RME use NJM2068's - https://forum.redfox.bz/threads/bit-...-7#post-200455
... Except that particular person has no clue how things actually work, and is just "parroting" datasheet specs, as well as imagining THD adds up numerically (which it most definitely does not).
More confirmation: http://www.crome.org/wpn/inside-the-fireface-800/

Re: What op amps in side the RME firefaces models?
after having seen what there is inside the RME I say that it's absolutely not convenient invest lots of money to buy these expansive interfaces cause they have exactly the same components as cheaper units...same op amps, same converters, similar caps ....sampe FPGA ....the only difference is the software and additional software functions implemented .....it should be interesting to take a look inside the top expansive interface by Prism Audio, Universal Audio Apollo (11), Apogee and so ON ....

PGA2500 mic preamps, and on the close-up of the DI board, there's an NJM2082(?) with a JFET input, and an NJM5532. Pretty safe to assume the rest of the opamps are also 5532's
http://gearautopsy.com/bla-finally-l...of-uas-apollo/ - and some NJM2068's as well, it seems.

Re: What op amps in side the RME firefaces models?
Perhaps, but i'm not sure i wanna know just how many man-hours went into the development of the firmware (not so much the drivers)... That being said though, some of those DO indeed smell suspiciously much as overpriced-ness :P
And yeah, it takes a looooooooot of skill(?) to go to google, write the search terms, go to "Images", and just scroll down...Khron's Cave - Electronics - Audio - Teardowns - Mods - Repairs - Projects - Music - Rants - Shenanigans

Are you really THAT lazy to do a google image search? I know "outsourcing" is fun and effortless, but i really don't care what's inside that overpriced stuff
My 896mk3's working fine (along with my two recapped 8Pre's), just used it on a drum recording session this weekend, and that's all i care aboutKhron's Cave - Electronics - Audio - Teardowns - Mods - Repairs - Projects - Music - Rants - Shenanigans

Re: What op amps in side the RME firefaces models?
Read the first question from my previous message (again)... Or actually, the entire first line.
What i've found so far, i've searched just because i was in a good mood, and i was a tiny bit curious myself.
And i'm really sorry, you can put all the sad faces you want, but the last time i checked, i did NOT owe you ANYTHINGLast edited by Khron; 03-08-2016, 12:45 PM.Khron's Cave - Electronics - Audio - Teardowns - Mods - Repairs - Projects - Music - Rants - Shenanigans
