Iyyama Prolite E2475 - 2 seconds to black?

I got a problem with my Iyyama Prolite monitors, I have 2 monitors wich actually have the same issue but im unable to determine if it belongs to the 2 seconds to black category.

When i power up my pc they work about 15-20 minutes then go black with no led indication what so ever, i am then unable to turn them on with the power button for X hours. (next day they work again) My pc sais it is still connected, i connected them with DVI.

I also opened them up but saw no bad caps in my opinion, anyone got some further information on this? much appreciated.

*edit* quess its not 2 seconds to black because the flashlight *trick* does not work, no image.

Hi did this problem develop over time

Are they both connected to the same pc at the same time
    Have you tried them separately
Have you tried with a vga cable
If you turn the brightness down do they stay on longer.

Have you another monitor/tv you can connect the pc to

Cannot answer if it developed over time, i got them like this recently.

They are not both connected to the same pc at the same time, further more if i connect them to another pc they respond the same so also yes i have tried them seperately.

I'm gonna try using a vga cable and mayb HDMI too, and also turn down the brightness.

What i forgot to mention, they did seem to stay on longer when they are flat on their back, but have to test that further.

A member with a 2407 found cold solder joints on the mains input. He resoldered those and replaced all the caps (except the big one)with low esr ones.
Can you post good clear pictures of your power supply board - both sides.

Hi, it seems a heat related problem, therefore solderings much probably, so let the monitor run until it stops, then measure with all cautions and only if you are steady enough to make no shorts, the outputs on the power board, if there aren't, test voltage on the bigger cap.

Yes i seem to read that article too, but the main inputs solder seem to be ok, i will post some pics tomorow.

Hey there congrats , thanks for the advice, i'm gonna try and measure some caps on work tomorow, i pulled out the power supply. Then during this week i will try and do some measurements.

I aasume,as I cannot see any Backlight connectors, that there is a separate Inverter Board ???and if that is the case, then does the Power led stay on if you disconnect that??

It's a LED screen so i dont think it has an inverter, there are only 2 pcb's in the display, i added a picture of the second pcb.

ok - still to try reduced brightness.
Another thing to try is when it is on, warm gently with a hair dryer and see if it goes off quicker.- Start with the power supply then try on the other boards.
If it does go off quicker then try to narrow down the search by heating sections of the board.

Maybe a component that can open with heat is the thermal reristor near the input of the 220vac, the one with heat shrink tube.

Hmm im beginning to notice differences between the 2 screens.

I put down the brightness on 1 of the screens and when i finished i accendently pressed the power button, but it wont turn on anymore, no led what so ever even when i remove the power cable and put it back in. When i reboot the pc the monitor isnt shown in the windows settings. (this is the one i took pictures from)

The other monitor just turns black after a while but the power led stays on, when i press the power button the led switches off and when i turn it back on the led turns on but the screen stays black but it is reconised in windows.

I did some measurements on lets call it screen1, measured the farads of the capicitators and some resistence's of resistors, one of the capacitators failed to give a reading, i will post the results later.

@selldoor Hairdryer i will try in the weekend, day after tomorow i will do some measurements of screen2.

@Davi, Ok hmm i might be able to test that out, it does have a weird symbol, like a zigzag line.

Thanks for the help so far guys, still have a lot to test out but life just give's me so much time

Ok so this is when monitor was cold, if not this is nothing new
                          this tells nothing to me..

this is when you does the brightness test? Does you see any dark picture pointing a lamp on the screen?

the way to test it is to warm it up and then measure ohms..

Yes the monitor was cold just hooked it up. (screen 1)

Not specificly with the brightness test, still have to do that on screen2, but no i dont see a dark picture with a lamp.

                            Ok will try that.
