Acer x223w - slight flicker ??

Got this monitor from a friend who said it had a slight flicker, which i have confirmed. Its in the upper part of the screen and i would've said its just a bad bulb except it seems there is a hissing noise that correlates to the flickers intensity. the hissing is coming from the back electronics.

i opened the board up expecting to see a bulging capacitor but didn't. any suggestions on how to progress ?

I'm quite new to this stuff, but try and test the lamp by using a cfl. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19987

i would make up 2 of them and hook them up to the connectors. if they stay lit without hissing, i'd be confident the lamp is your problem.

if not, maybe look into the transformer, there is a post on here somewhere that tells you how to test them.

and a capacitor doesnt have to be bulged to be bad. though you would need a way to test the esr and/or the capacitance. - hope this helps somehow.
