Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM black screen with power no sound

    Hi All,

I have two Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM. One is working just fine but the other monitor started going to a black screen for a few seconds over the past 2 weeks. Yesterday it wen't completely black with the blue LED power light on. I unplugged it and left it off overnight. I powered it back on and it worked for 15 minutes.

I found a thread on Badcaps that said replacing the capacitors may fix it. I took my monitor apart but do not see any busted capacitors. I've never done this before so I am probably over looking something. Can someone check out the pictures I've attached? Would you recommend me changing all the capacitors out? Do you see something else I should try?

    Thanks

First, you will need to remove ALL those glues, I can see one of the small disc cap by the MOSFET QM802 is burnt, the small transformer with DW0841S may also be damged by the glue.
Those glues become corrosive and also conductive.
BTW, you should also check the capacitance of the white rectangular cap with 474J SIC 460S printed on top to see if it still has the correct capacitance.

This is what bad glues can do to the boards.

      Thanks for the reply budm.

What is the best way to remove the glue from the board? Once I remove it do I need to put anything back on?

I am trying to find the small disc cap by the MOSFET QM802. Can you tell me where it is? lol Sorry so many things in these screenshots.

Could removing the glue fix the possible damage done to DW0841S?

Do you know what the correct capacitance is for the rectangular cap?

If I wanted to purchase all the items you see as possible issues where would you recommend me getting them?

Thanks again and sorry for the noob reply back. I work in IT but I have never really messed with circuit boards.

Just search on the forum using 'Samsung 2493HM' as keywords, you'll see tons of advice that have been offered before on that screen as well as the PSU-- please, endeavour to go through all the threads and suggestions, as there is really nothing new to add, besides first making use of all the existing knowledge in the forum.

You may then update the forum of your efforts so far and you may be assisted should your issue is unique / new; otherwise, what will be offered will just be repetition of possible solutions to the same problem.

You can buy most of those components or equivalents either over the counter or below online stores and be ready to get your hands dirty as well for a long ride / patience:

Alibaba or Ali-express, RS components, DigiKey, Mouser etc.
