    PS4 HDD not detected even after replacing it with a working one in another PS4. What to check?

      hdd is connected directly to the motherboard so no cable. I will try another power supply...

        the rest of the console is supposed to be working ? Only the original hdd was the problem ?

          trace the drive connector +5v lines - it may have a fuse

            its working. when I turn it on I get the message "HDD not detected"

                  I suggest getting the metal cover off the board and inspecting the connector itself for damage. These aslo get extremely dirty and it may just be dust. Also inspect the 5v rail for a short or fuses on the board (typically labeled Fxxx). Hope this helps.
