    HP ZBook 15 G2 not powering up. *SOLVED*

    Hello. I had a issue with my HP ZBook 15 G2 that it did not power on from the power button. It was having some issues before, but now this morning it just did not power up at all. The LED next to the power connector and in the front panel lid up as white, like normal, but I had no way to get it to turn on.

    After some head scratching and internet searching I decided to remove the laptop battery and the cmos battery to reset the cmos. Now after inserting the cmos battery back and inserting the power cable the laptop booted as normal, but after shutting it down it would not start again. Nex thing I tough was to check the power button itself and lo and behold it was the culprit. Quick internet search later and I found a replacement from ebay for 20€ + shipping from U.S.A, so I decided I would be faster and cheaper to just solder a new momentary bushbutton to the small pcb. I did not have the exact same SMD part, but found a suitable and now it works again.

    I just wanted to share this with you all, incase some one is having similar issues. It's not nessesary the power delivery or something other big that has failed. It might be just the 0.10€ button and a 30 min quick fix.

    TL;DR;
    It was the power button intself and I managed to solder a replacement.

    Power buttons fail a lot. Nice fix, sometimes you go on a wild goose chase and then facepalm yourself when you figure out the answer was the simplest one from the get go (and one you already knew).
