Please help identify this chip on DV6000 motherboard

Hi, the motherboard from my DV6000 HP laptop is not working. It does not get power. Upon opening it up, I see that one of the SMD (surface mount device) is burnt. I believe it is a resistor. Here is a picture:

The SMD is immediately to the left of the DC in. I do not have a schematic. Can someone please venture to guess or know what this SMD is? And it's specifications so that I can replace it? Thanks!!

my wild guess is that it is a cap, but, hang on for better replies.

also a better lookin/specific pic might help a little more.

    peace.

The symbol would help a lot. All I can see is PC128 which seems like a different capacitor. Study the board and the symbols and see if you can figure out which applies to the part in question.

To help figure out the symbol compare it's color to similar parts where the symbols are more certain. It appears to me that the color is the same as PL111 which would make it much more likely that a PL symbol nearby is the right one.

Can you post another pic from the other direction, to help identify part. Also what part # is the board ?

Xaviero, thanks a million!!! Everyone, you have all been great. Your responses are all very much appreciated. Quite frankly, this forum has exceeded my expectation. I hope that the cap is the only component that blew. Now on to some surface soldering.
