Compaq presario f500 power on problem

I have problem with Compaq Presario F500 , when I press the power button, leds light up for a second and switch off. Sometimes when I press ...SOMETIME FAN RUNING FEW SECOND AFTER OFF. ANYONE HAVE EXPRIANCE PLS ADVISE ME
HOW TO TRACE FAULT? THANKS ADVANCE.

I repaired a Compaq F700 yesterday with the same symptoms. It's the video chip.

Yes I would agree, video chips of course get hot and if the heat dissipation is not good, for whatever reason, bad air flow, poor chassis design then the chip will get so hot it can melt the soldier and pull off the board or create dry joints.

Options are:
Re-flow the chip with a modded cooling system.
Re-ball the chip, expensive!
New motherboard or graphics card.

Beware though there are A LOT of models that have inherit problems so if it has happened once it will happen again!

This is a common issue especially among these compaq (HP) laptops with the nVidia or ATI chipset.

If you don't own any reflowing equipment, literally pop the motherboard in a household oven for 8 minutes at 230C

Let it cool undisturbed for one hr.

this is a video chip problem, happens in almost all AMD laptops and Nvidia Chipset, try reballing procedure

Try to search with part numbers form motherboard components
