Toshiba L500 touchpad & buttons appear, but not work

In both Windows ( fresh factory image ) and Ubuntu 12.06, the L500 touch pad and mouse buttons appear to be recognised, or at least the controller is, but there's absolutely no activity detected when you attempt to use it.

I've checked and double-checked the FPC connections both on the mainboard, and the one that links from the touch pad/controller.

    Any further ideas?

Tried the Fn-F9, no avail ( the button works fine ). This is a fresh factory-reimaging from the on-disk partition, so it should be 100% fine.

        I'm a tad perplexed.

Anyone know if the controller is on the mainboard or the actual pad assembly?

          NO.
if the buttons don`t work the track won`t to.
so if the buttons works that means you need to find whats wrong with the drivers. like i said maybe its related to it.

i think i got one in the store; i`ll see today if i got time to open it and tell you the values from the foil to pad.
