5 long blinks, 3 short blinks: Embedded Controller (EC) firmware not responding.

Start with a CMOS clear. If this does not solve the problem, flash a new BIOS.

Did you try to re-flash the main BIOS with your reader already? On some HP laptops you might even get away with creating a BIOS recovery USB stick.

yes, I do normal bios flash maybe 3 times. the laptop has no display, and the charging port light works when I plug the cable.

Did you try the BIOS recovery USB stick option? When you download and execute the update file from HP, the program lets you create a recovery stick. Then you can insert that stick to the laptop, press a certain keyboard combination (Win+B or Win+V) and power on the laptop.

I dont value these blinking indicators much as they are general in nature and often misguides you in diagnosis. A proper approach is to check all voltage rails and see where its stuck. If you have voltage on ram coil, then atleast you are in S4 stage.

HP`s are plagued with bad ram sockets, they`re made of biscuits and tin foil. Check all the ram pins carefully for loose ones
