    Dead Microsoft Surface 3 (1867)

    Hi everyone,

I got this corpse here and I am not sure (not very experienced with surface motherboards) if the PSU is faulty or the motherboard. I didn't find any obvious shorts on the any coils and I measure a very low 0.5-1.5V (and looping) voltage at PWR_SL1 (L7001). How can I power this board with bench PSU? The original brick states 15V and 5V as outputs and I am a bit confused.

Unfortunately I do not have a spare psu with that silly connector.

There are schematics/boardview available thankfully (attached).

    thank you in advance,
    george

You can power via the USB c port with a USB c charger

thank you sounds like a plan. other than that is it possible to also use a bench psu? attach 15V at some point on the motherboard?

i haven't done that before new to motherboard diagnostics, you also need the ssd and keyboard connected to get the laptop to boot

good vid here detailing the power setup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpQYJ-l-yjM&t=442s
