Asus Tuff FX506HCB-HN216W (Mobo: DA0NJJMBAG0 Rev G) Keyboard issues.

Hi there, bit of a weird one here.

Got this laptop that has "ghosting" issues with the keyboard... Although it's actually an issue with the board. Basically most of the kb keys won't work even in Bios but in windows i keep having the PrtScr activated or the toggle between cooling modes activated or random keys filling up text fields.

What I have done so far:
    - Inspected for liquid damage under the microscope and cannot see any indication any liquid came anywhere near this machine. I cannot see any damaged components either.
    - Replaced the SSD and tried a fresh load of windows with manual install of the drivers from Asus website
    - Replaced Palmrest / Keyboard
    - Tried to flash the Bios currently version 313, however, only version available from Asus is 311 so if refuses to revert to older Bios
    - Tried to find the schematics and BV for that particular board unsuccessfully
    - Tried to fire up the machine then disconnect the keyboard (the on/of button is on the keyboard) and then use an external keyboard

So to sum up: no visible damage whatsoever and same results with 2 different loads of windows, 2 different sets of internal kb and 1external kb, no bios flash possible, couldn't find schematics and BV, out of warranty...

    Any suggestion would be welcomed.

    Thank you

Clean the keyboard connector, identify the pins that correspond to the power button.
Then try booting the machiine by shorting these pins, without the keyboard connected, and with an usb keyboard.

Also, give a good wash with alcohol on the region around the keyboard connector pins.

Thank you. I've tried and even without the keyboard connected, I get the "ghosting" issue.

Liquid damage could be underneath the EC chip.

The latest bios is 311 , so you might have the wrong bios installed. On some Asus laptops the EC will flash itself from the bios, so if it does have the wrong bios, even though it`s functional, it could have the wrong EC.

Thanks, so Do you suggest I replace the EC (if so, can I just source a replacement from AliExpress or does it have to be pre-programmed?)or is try to re-install the bios, taking the bios chip out and using an adaptor?

Try the bios first because if the EC is self flashing and if the bios is the wrong one you could end up with the same EC being flashed to the new chip . Make a bios backup and post your request in the Bios requests sub forum , including the serial number , and someone will have a look at it. Desoldering the bios chip and using an adapter is the most relaible way, but if you want to use a clip/pogo adapter or whatever that`s up to you.

Can you post some pictures of the EC chip

I'm not too sure but I guess that's the one?

This link claims this EC is available with compatibility with Asus (see listing description) - best to reconfirm:
